How to test automatic passkey upgrades

To test automatic passkey upgrades, use the following steps:

  1. Make sure you have enabled automatic passkey upgrades.
  2. Register a new account and save it in your password manager e.g. Apple Passwords or Google Password Manager.
  3. Log in to your account with password autofill from your password manager.
  4. A passkey should be automatically created after logging in.
  5. Log out and log in again using passkey autofill.

To enable automatic passkey upgrades, you must meet the following requirements:

Supported browsers

  • Safari on macOS 15+ or iOS 18+
